How to Propagate a Spider Plant

Is your spider plant producing babies?  Let's propagate it!

Cut the baby plant at the base of the new growth.

Fill a jar or propagation station

Be sure to use a skinny or very shallow container since these baby plants are usually fairly small.

Put the clipping in water

Make sure you have enough to cover the bottom but not to much drown the plant.

Watch for roots

Roots will typically grow faster if the jar has some sunlight. They will begin to form in a few weeks.

Plant it!

Now you're ready to plant your spider plant in a pot!
