How to Propagate a Polka Dot Plant

Polka dot plants are one of the easiest to propagate! Whether yours is pink with green spots, green with white spots, or some other color — here's how turn your small stem cuttings into more beautiful plants!

Cut between two nodes using a sharp, sterile pair of scissors or  shears. Be sure your cutting is 4-5 inches long and has at least three nodes. Remove the leaves coming out of the bottom two nodes.

Before You Begin:  Take Your Cuttings

1

Submerge your cutting in a clear glass of room temp water and place in a sunny spot to encourage root. Once roots are  about 2 inches long, you can plant in soil!

2

Choose a pot with drainage holes. You'll need a 3-inch pot for two cuttings, a 4-inch pot for three cuttings, and so on. Plant your cuttings so the nodes are below soil level. Water well and place in a warm spot to encourage growth.
